I am not going to waste your time here. If you have run a web business for longer than 10 minutes you will instantly recognize the pain I am talking about. I know my rights as a consumer and how easy a charge back is to get ... hey I run several websites so I know all the tricks ... but still even knowing all these tricks I won't buy from a website I don't feel I can contact easily.  Just imagine how many sales you are losing to "nervous mom's and dads" out there.

Test it for a month I guarantee you'll make more money.

The catch 22 of course is that you make more money but
 you end up doing more work ... that was until now.

I do understand the concern. People with anonymous sites worry that the additional sales they make wont be enough to justify the additional work required or the cost of paying someone to answer them for you. I used to worry about this as well but then I looked at my bank balance and a lot of that concern evaporated.

Yes there was more work but I preferred the money ... but then I got even smarter.

If you have a genuine buyer with a genuine pre-purchasing question then obviously you want them to contact you. You want to answer this question because it is the last thing standing between you and the order. It's common sense.
